Alex Hackel is a two-time X Games medalist hailing from Boston, MA. He made a name for himself in the freeskiing scene with his creative film parts with The Bunch.
Hackel was once on track to become a force on the slopestyle scene. Under the guidance of Mike Hanley at Windells Ski Camp in Mt. Hood, Oregon, Hackel stomped one of the first-ever Triple Cork 1080s at West Coast Session 8 in 2014 and made the U.S. Freeski Team as a teenager. Hackel then decided to give up competitive skiing to pursue his passion for creating film parts. That’s when Alex met Magnus Granér, a Swedish skier making waves with The Bunch - a Scandinavian crew bringing new cohesiveness, fluidity, and style to street skiing. Alex joined forces with The Bunch and they went on to make several award-winning ski movies together. Hackel was invited to compete in X-Games Real Ski in 2020 and 2021, where he won bronze and silver medals and the ‘fan favorite’ vote. Now, Hackel is focused on taking his unique style to the backcountry.
Alex is sponsored by Peak Performance, 1000 Skis, Chimi, Every Man Jack and now, Db Journey. Welcome to the family, Alex.
