There is so much to say about Sage, and even more to listen to - with plenty of podcasts full of his wisdom, there’s so much more to Sage than meets the eye.
Sage came onto the scene around 2010 with podiums at 3 separate X Games over a couple of years. Despite being known for his amazing style, there was a stage he was referred to as Second-Place-Sage for a while. When the 2014 Winter Olympics came around, he managed to make a last minute qualification - taking everyone by surprise and summing up his country’s expectations for him. However, when that day in Sochi came, Sage threw gas on the slope and dropped a never before seen trick, the Holy Grail 1620, to win. From there he went to Fallon, Kimmel, NBC, morning shows, late night shows, talk shows - the whole deal. Two months later, Sage turned up in the Austrian backcountry to film with friends and made the remarkable decision to turn away from competing in the X Games, Dew Tour and the Olympics. There were huge concerns about how this move would affect his career - how would he stay relevant? What would his sponsors say? But fast forward to a few years later and Sage won Video Part of the Year and back to back Rider of the Year titles as voted by his peers. The kid did good.
One defining moment for snowboarding wasn’t enough for Sage and in the 21/22 Winter he went and put down an amazing run to win Natural Selection on a course that had never been ridden before. He is one of the most inspiring people you could ever wish to meet. Down to earth and always out for a good time, but when its lights on and go - you wont meet anyone more motivated and eager to surpass his levels, no matter how many times he gets bodied.
